FAQ's

Q: What is Yuntaa™?

A: Yuntaa™ means alternative. An alternative way to backup, store, share and access everything you have on your computer today.

Yuntaa™ ensures that a copy of the files on your computer’s hard disk are stored securely with us, and allows you to establish this in an easy and stress-free manner. Once stored, you can access these files from anywhere at all, share them in more than one way, and retrieve them to restore your system should you lose the files on your computer’s hard disk. If you choose to, you can tell Yuntaa™ exactly what to do, and schedule us to work without your further intervention in the future.

Q: Is it secure? Is it safe? Is it reliable?

A: Yes. Yes. and Yes. To elaborate on all 3 points . . .

Security is top priority at Yuntaa™. We use the same foundation and technology that numerous World Governments use, the same technologies that the United States Department of Defense uses, and the same technology that most major Fortune 500 companies use. Just like those organizations, Yuntaa™ uses an Oracle Database to manage all content. The Oracle Database is the industry's leading technology for data management, security, reliability, integrity, and scalability. The database lives for that purpose - and does it better than anything else in the world. Honestly, there is no better entity available on the planet to manage data than a database.

Everything in Yuntaa™’s Oracle Database is protected on several layers using the industry standard "defense-in-depth" strategy. We use only top of the line servers and storage system for your data, and house these servers in the most reliable and protected Data Center in Europe. We have numerous layers of fault-protection in place and we monitor these systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 1/4 days per year. Non-Stop.

Storing everything in a database allows us to guarantee higher levels of security and performance than any other online storage company. One location means one location to secure, one location to backup, one location to stripe and mirror, and one location to tune for performance.

We have some really cool features implemented that allow us to immediately identify when a hacker or intruder is approaching our system, and once verified, we take a series of steps to ensure they are terminated (tracking of their I.P. address with immediate notification to the authroities is one of our favourites). So, instead of just putting up a defence around Yuntaa™, we also counter-attack hackers and neutralize them with extreme prejudice.

Using a database as storage is trusted by the most valuable data management organizations in the world. We feel exactly the same about your data, and give you the same protection they have.

Q: I don't want strangers seeing my files, how can Yuntaa™ guarantee this?

A: With Yuntaa™, our policies revolve around a "least privileges" approach to file management. What this means is that all your files start out completely private. When you upload a file to Yuntaa™, you are the only one who can see that file. Should you wish to share that file with a particular "buddy", then you simply add him or her to the list of users who can view that file. Or, you can make the file available to a group of people, or even the world, if you wish. But until you make the decision, each of your files remain strictly confidential and private.

Q: Can I send a link to my file(s) to my friend, who isn't a member of Yuntaa™?

A: Yes, of course. In fact we encourage you to do this. We want to make sharing as friendly and convenient as possible. In your Yuntaa™ File Manager, you have an option to "send" a link to your content (a URL) to anyone so they can have a read-only view of it. It's the ultimate in sharing your world with your friends, while still being able to keep your private stuff completely out of reach and safe.

Q: What it your stance on sharing Copyrighted Material?

A: Yuntaa™ strives to comply with all international copyright laws and guidelines for content stored on our site which is shared with the “whole world”. Yuntaa™ discourages you from violating international copyright laws and asks that you respect those guidelines ( Terms of Use ). However, it is not illegal to store your movies and music on Yuntaa™. Since everything is kept completely private in your Yuntaa™ account, and as long as you don't share that content with the “whole world" you're OK!

Q: Do you check files for inappropriate material?

A: What you store in your computer and back up with Yuntaa™ is completely private to you and will never reach our eyes or ears. However, once you share these files publicly (meaning to the “whole world”), they become subject to our filters that check for this inappropriate material.

We have several filters that verify the type of content being shared on Yuntaa™. These advanced algorithms capture as much as possible what is considered "inappropriate" (basically, anything deemed illegal by the international community). Yet the term "inappropriate" is as daunting as the word "love". What is inappropriate to one person may not be considered inappropriate to another.

So in order to remove any doubt or questions about what is inappropriate within Yuntaa™, we have compiled a very short list of what is considered inappropriate to store in Yuntaa™. Everything else is fair game. The following is a complete list of inappropriate material to make public to the “whole world”. Again, we maintain a strict "Zero Tolerance" policy for the following material in any shape or form:

• Pornography or sexually explicit content

• Dangerous or illegal acts or documentation of these acts, like bomb making.

• Acts of violence, death images or videos or general grotesqueness on all living creatures, including animals.

• Derogatory material (any content which obviously is encouraging hatred against specific race, colour, gender, creed, religion, beliefs, ethnicity). This will not include historical academia, peer-reviewed and approved documentaries, or educational material deemed appropriate by the educational community for historical documentation.

• Copyrighted material such as full movies and music tracks.

When a "Red Flag" is raised concerning the content, our CEO will review the validity of the concern and contact you directly and privately with a request to remove the sharing of this content. We choose this path because it implies an "innocent until proven guilty approach", and gives you the benefit of the doubt about uploaded content. If you fail to comply with the request to remove the inappropriate material in a timely manner, your Yuntaa™ account will be deleted, you will be permanently banned from using Yuntaa™ and turned over to the authorities (when applicable). We feel this is a better policy than allowing users themselves to flag something as inappropriate. That mindset reminds us of the Salem Witch Trials where all someone had to do was say "that person is a witch" and they'd be executed. At Yuntaa™ you're in complete control of your content. Any disputes are dealt with in-house first and resolved privately. Failure to resolve the dispute then results in action on our end. We think this is best to ensure a pleasant environment for everyone in the Yuntaa™ community.

Q: I have some other questions and just some things to say to you guys. Where can I get some more answers?

A: Go to the  Contact Us  section and write us an email. We promise to send you something back within the hour. If your request takes longer than that to resolve, we will send you a note about it, also within the hour.
